Are there any good mythology creative writing projects out there?

10. Jan, 2010

Students are doing the National Mythology Exam, and in lou of a presentation I want them to write something (poem, essay, etc). Are there any possible creative writing projects pertaining to mythology?
*The students are in eighth grade.
Thank you.

    “mythology creative writing” ?

That’s not logical, captain. Planning on creating your own myths ?

Sure, mostly, school projects tend to surround on a student making up his own myth, giving details as to how, why, where, and when their myths were created and sometimes the teacher might not allow the student to say the date, but to have the class mates guess as a group effort!

    Look into Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey”
    http://www.amazon.com/Heros-Journey-Joseph-Campbell-Works/dp/1577314042/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1220903116&sr=8-1
(I’m sure that there are dozens of websites to go to, that you don’t need the book)
Just about every story ever told, even the for movies in Hollywood, have this as their formula for story telling.
And it is all based on Campbell’s findings, it is the structure of all the worlds myths.

Any Greek hero would make for an interesting character study. You could also have your students compare the “Disney”ised versions of myths compared to the original, take hercules for example, in the original myths, hera turned him insane and he killed megara and his children.

Different students at high school try to get the PhD degree and they order the already written essay referring to this post from the custom essay service, and sometimes they require the topics just about order essays.
