Commencement…
So, to say that I was excited about starting my journal would be a bit of an understatement. But as is usually the case, as soon as my Dhaaba was setup (with mud baked walls and straw roofing, thank you Sidra) all hell broke lose. Let’s just say that everything that could have gone wrong at work, did indeed go wrong! And finally I am done playing catch-up and ready to give myself some relaxation time. Thankfully I did have enough evaporated milk at home to make myself a cup of tea this morning.
So, what will I have on my Dhaaba, I am thinking reviews of movies I like (I do see a lot of them), blabbering praise of my favorite musicians and their music, critiques on books I’ve read, and pretty much everything around me that catches my fancy. And I mean everything, from a weird expression (fleeting as it maybe) to long drawn conversations with strangers, with bad live music in the background. I firmly believe that life happens in between the big moments in our lives. It’s never about the destination, not even about the journey. It’s just about the moment you’re in, and a moment that can hold you to it for many moments to come.
So there’s a Buddhist monk meditating on a snow capped mountain in the Himalayas, and he sees a tiger (with his mouth watering) approaching. So he puts his meditation aside, lifts up his robe to his knees, and runs like shit. The tiger, of course, follows. Our monk, in his desperation to not be the main course, reaches the edge of a cliff. With the tiger still in pursuit he starts to climb down. Half-way down the cliff, he notices three more tigers waiting for him at the bottom of the cliff (their mouths watering as well). Caught in this dilemma he looks to his side, and there is this beautiful little flower, blossoming out of a little crack. And he thinks, Wow! What a beautiful sight! (Disclaimer: I remember this little story from a little seen movie I saw).
So, I’ve finally put up my first entry on my Dhaaba (which btw means a temporary driver hotel, which we have so many off in Islamabad…my heart…my soul). And every paragraph begins with a “So”! But then again, SO What!

Lovely! Looking forward to all your entries. : )
Thank you!
lol, so glad your dhaaba is all set up to provide us drivers some refreshments in the mundane drivery lives we live. Looking forward to stopping here more often with chai-stained newspapers and Panjabi dubbed movies
oh and we might just bring along some kiwis too
Btw, everyone’s following the sweet food theme for their journal names, I feel left out
You can still change it, you know, btu I have developed a liking for daily duba. : )
I should be embarrassed of the typos above.
lol, they’re funny! Daily duba! Lol, everday box. Thats a funny name too
Daily Duba Everday Box! Yep! Funny, quite funny! Here’s to jittery fingers then!
