Dialogue 6
“There is probably a god somewhere.”
“Probably?”
“Yeah, although in scientific calculation and physical probability that one of your geeky science-freaks would present, the existence of a higher god-being would be zero.”
“Yeah? What do YOU think?”
“I think it’s probable…debatable.”
“Not plausible? Not a good chance? No beliefs? Come on, have some faith.”
“I do have faith — just not in something I can’t see.”
“That’s rich.”
“No need to be sarcastic.”
“So you mean you want to have a serious discussion? Well, excuse me for criticizing the lack of a spiritual backbone in my best friend — when I am a believer.”
“Hey, I do have faith. Trust me.”
“Yeah? In what?”
“I’ll tell you if you tell me.”
“I have faith in God, the Higher Power, the Almighty, the All-Seeing, All-Knowing God who has made me and you and all that came before us and with us and all that will follow, and –”
“Okay, okay, I get the picture. Fair enough.”
“Now, you go.”
“Well, I have faith in mankind. I have faith that we will screw up, and some of us might find our way back to being right. I have faith that tyranny will continue thriving. Rich will overpower the poor, powerful will victimize the weaklings, and cowards will terrorize the free world. I have faith that racism will not die. I have faith that world peace will forever stay a dream and an unsuccessful theory at best, and –”
“You’re hopeless. There is always a solution. God will provide for those who need Him.”
“The god of the needy is dead.”??
“Blasphemy.”
“Go ask them yourself. The god of the needy has been dead since the dawn of time. He was killed by the god of those in power.”
“Blasphemy.”
“Truth.”
“Let’s just agree to disagree about this theological point in our discussion.”
“Let’s.”

Ahh, the debate that will rage forever
. You’ve captured both polar viewpoints very nicely, and what I love is the contrast – light against darkness, optimism against hopelessness, even normal font against italics.
I was thinking this could also well represent the turmoil of belief within oneself.
I love the freedom and easy flow of ur dialogue. Good stuff! 9/10
